Supporting children and young people's digital rights

By Sky

Project URL: irights.uk/

iRights are a set of principles that support children and young people's digital rights. They include the rights:

  • To remove any content and data that they've created from their devices
  • To know who is holding and profiting from their information
  • To internet safety and support
  • To make informed and conscious choices about their tech use
  • To digital literacy

In regard to the 4th principle, Sky has recently developed an app that has a 'bedtime setting' so that parents can agree with their children a time for their device to shut down. A child can also receive a data record letting them know how much time they've spent on a device and what activities they've completed.
