Hornet is a social network for the gay male community. Created as a response to "sleazy" gay community apps (according to its co-founder) it connects gay men for friendship and dating. The site actively promotes HIV awareness and health checks.
Hornet now has more than 1 million users, and apps for both iPhone and Android.
The app allows users to save conversations so they can continue to chat later on, rather than having one-off connections. Yet its real selling point is security, claiming that users will never have to worry about a hack or security breach.
