Creating software that makes the world a better place
Founders & Coders is a 100% free full-stack coding school, teaching user-centred design principles to a diverse range of eager students (including an increasing number of girls with each cohort), with a view to creating software that makes the world a better place. It is also helping to improve communication between freelance developers/agencies and clients in the social sector, who have little or no understanding of tech themselves, through a process of co-design between developers and social entrepreneurs.
The 16-week course is built around peer learning sessions and culminates in the graduates working on charity, social enterprise and open source projects for the second half of the programme. They hope the vast majority of the new graduates will then go on to work for social-impact organisations, and use their knowledge for good.
