Flood Risk Estimator has been developed to support rural communities, government agencies, non-government organisations and others working in flood-prone areas of Pakistan by providing them with scenario-based information on flood risks.

It combines GIS- based flood plain modelling and mapping techniques with indigenous knowledge of riverine communities. It can help in:

  • Estimating flood water spread at a particular discharge
  • Finding depth of flood water at any location in a flooded area
  • Estimating the affected elements at any particular discharge

It’s one of the outputs of the ‘Enhancing capacities of flood prone communities through GIS based early warning systems’ project implemented by Doaba Foundation with technical support from City Pulse (Pvt.) Ltd. It has been generously supported by Oxfam GB.
