The Data Innovation Challenge was a US government competition held in April 2014. It was designed to attract projects that make innovative use of open and big data to create better communities, transparency, transportation networks and governance. The winning projects included RideScout, a free app which calculates journey options across all transport types, and has since been downloaded by more than 100,000 people.
