Brokering agreements between energy suppliers and community groups
Project URL: www.communityenergymanager.org/
The platform and service helps groups to select and manage the energy interventions that are going to give greatest returns for their community.
The community groups can register for free and then define their areas. Through open data household audits, online surveys and networking events they can highlight problem energy requirements and escalate to the Community Energy Manager (CEM) .
CEM staff will broker agreements with ECO/Green Deal providers and retailers to present offers to the residents. The uptake rate will be recorded for future reference. The community group will receive a referral fee for this 'hot lead' and CEM will take a percentage of that fee.
Community Energy Manager is an initiative by sustainability charity Bioregional. It was the winner of the Nesta Open Data Challenge (Energy & Environment) in 2014, receiving seed funding and professional support.
