Artsbox is a digital platform and app for children and young people working towards Arts Award, a qualification in the arts for anyone aged up to 25. It is run by Trinity College London. Artsbox was developed in response to the Darren Henley Review’s recommendation for a tool that could enable young people to ‘record, review and share' their cultural development.

An extensive research phase followed with stakeholders, young people and digital specialists from the cultural sector. It became clear that a social networking portfolio model, with Arts Award at the heart, should form the basis of the new digital tool.

Artsbox was then designed by 300 youngsters and a team with an extensive track record in collaborative design. It’s fun, free, personal and secure for young people to create their Arts Award portfolio online, connect to other opportunities, and to share their work with their Arts Award adviser and friends, for feedback and mentoring.

In the short time since its launch, over 3,000 Arts Award advisers and artists are enjoying collecting evidence for their Arts Award portfolio through Artsbox. It will be rolled out to all schools in autumn 2014.
