Creating solar energy through artificial photosynthesisBy Monash University
Project URL: www.monash.edu
The 'artificial leaf' is a solar-powered device that is able to produce hydrogen with a record-breaking degree of efficiency.
The 'leaf' splits up the water by passing an electric current through it, which separates out hydrogen particles to be used for fuel. This is a cheaper and cleaner process than other forms of energy generation.
Their system to turn water into fuel, using nothing but solar energy, could be used to run cars, houses and even whole communities.
