Android now has a new emergency location service, which will help emergency service providers find your exact location when dialling 999 or 112 from a mobile device. The service is immediately available in the UK and Estonia, but will come online in other countries as other network operators sign up. According to Google’s Europe blog, more than 70% of calls to emergency services are made from mobile phones, but locating the caller is not as accurate as GPS. This will fix the problem, at least for Android users.
